Old Days Website Marketing!

Website marketing ideas were different in old days, than they are now. The aim however remained the same, and that was to reach maximum number of people through different channels and methods.

What were different methods of old days’ website marketing?

It would be wrong to call these methods old day website marketing, because these methods of marketing are still in use and are just as popular as modern times marketing. Old days website marketing methods are:-

Banners: Banners were especially favorite form of website marketing especially for affiliates because these banners generally added a lot of color and spunk to their websites. Banners are available in different colors, sizes and shapes. These are normal rectangular ones which span all width of website or the ones that are small enough to be included within a small space in the content of your website. These banners can be called the large banners, small banners, half page banners, buttons, etc. Banners are coded so you know when someone has clicked them and the link followed to the main website.

Pop-Ups: This was another innovative method of marketing in old days, though it does exist on some websites yet, most have chosen to remove it, to be included in top positions in google rankings. Pop-Ups, though largely useful also have a surprise factor that can irritate the visitor to the site, it was also known as not so clean practice of marketing. Pop-Ups though served the purpose of marketing, websites with pop-ups were never encouraged to get top rankings in search engines.

Pop-Unders: This was another marketing gimmick tried by webmasters, instead of messages and advertisements popping on windows, these pop-under came under the main window in the task bar space, though these were not as irritating these did have the sly value to it. However, both pop-ups and pop-under had their share in increasing customer base.

Exit traffic: This was yet another internet marketing strategy tried out by webmasters, a window would be automatically activated the moment you chose to shut down the website or decided to exit from the website through browser. The exit window generally contained questionnaire, poll or advertisement regarding website. This method too did not go down well with users because this disturbed their speed of internet browsing.

There are some more methods like text links, etc. but these are very much in use today also, so you cannot call them old time marketing.

Marketing concept in the earlier times was not what it is today, today marketers try to bring in customers by being at a more personal level with them, instead earlier point of view was not to let go of a visitor once he was there on the website. This resulted into using gimmicks that would involve the visitor further and entice him to leave his email id so that promotional offers could be send later on too.

Today, website promotion advertising spans more than 3-4 methods which are interesting, informative and indulgent rather than only sell-sell-sell. These methods are becoming famous not just with the webmaster but also with the users.

Correct use of Google Adwords Keywords guarantees a massive success in your adwords pay per click campaigns, this fact is not unknown to any web marketing geek! Of course, it is not only about keywords; the landing page and an excellent ad structure are equally important as the keywords. However, the need for Adwords optimization in order to use your keywords better and more effectively far outweighs other considerations.

How can Adwords Perform at its Best?

The concept behind Adwords is simple and basic. Thus, the concept on how you can make Adwords perform at its best is also simple. You basically have to remember two things. First, you have to choose the best keywords and second, appropriately use them in ad groups. By executing these two things smartly, customers you want will be targeted for sure.

The thought that you have an Adwords pay per click campaign is really satisfying, however; if your list of Adwords keywords could not even scratch up your campaign, then your chance of succeeding is very little. The Basic Steps towards Adwords Optimization

In optimizing your Adwords pay per click campaign, there are basic steps to remember and to be followed. Take a look at them below.

  • First Step

You have to review your website content. As you do this, be sure to note down the keywords that would best describe the facet of your business. Remember that a keyword may either be singular or a combination of two or more words. It may also be a whole phrase. This is the first group that needs to be expounded and expanded. Google has a suggestion tool that can be used for this purpose excellently. You just have to feed the keywords into the tool. After running the tool, suggestions of different other keywords will show up. As Google tool multiplies your keywords, there will be a lot of new keywords that include good and useful and the not so good and not so useful ones.

  • Second Step

After getting all the keywords, you have to browse through all of them and remove those irrelevant words. These are the words that inevitably creep into your list. However, you have to remember that there are some words that you have to retain because these keywords may be used as negative matches.

  • Third Step

Now that you have your final list, you may now start grouping your Adwords Keywords into three categories. These are broad, phrase and exact.

  • Fourth Step

After filling up the category list, you may now group your Adwords Keywords into different ad groups for every Adwords pay per click campaign that you are running. You have to keep in mind that the success of your pay per click campaigns depends mainly on the creativeness of the different ad groups and the quality of the advertisements that are within that campaign.

It is true that apart from other factors that come with Adwords pay per click, Adwords Keywords are still hold the key to a better performance of your campaign. The bottom line is, Adwords optimization works well as it gives you the chance to sort out your keywords into the appropriate and right group and this is the primary factor behind creating an effective and successful pay per click campaign.
